Kenya vs Tanzania Safari: Which Is Right for You?

April 5, 2026 Updated May 27, 2026 6 min read

Both countries deliver world-class wildlife, but Kenya and Tanzania differ in routing style, park scale, transfer rhythm, and ideal trip length.

Kenya often works well for travellers who want strong variety across a compact route, with Nairobi access, the Mara, Rift Valley lakes, Amboseli, Samburu, Tsavo, or coast extensions.

Tanzania is exceptional for sweeping northern circuits, especially when combining Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, and Serengeti.

Neither country is automatically better. The right answer depends on your dates, wildlife priorities, preferred pace, and whether you want a pure bush safari or a bush-and-beach journey.

Planning note: Amipal Safaris builds around Kenya and Tanzania only, so we can compare both options honestly and recommend the route that fits the guest rather than the route that is easiest to sell.
